Laser cutlery
Laser Cut-lery

To gain experience using the laser cutter, we had to make a piece of cutlery and some way of storing the food. I went for a box which folds in on itself to close. I had the design printed onto card to then be laser cut, however due to the inaccuracy of the laser, I had to laser cut plain card and then hand cut the printed version.

Large Scale Drawing

We took an image of a man made object and had to draw it on paper of over A1 and make our pictures look exactly like the real image.

Although mine does not look at all like a real train, it was a great learning curve and taught me that although I can paint fairly well, each material has their limitations and therefore I should never use watercolour to recreate products

USB Stick

In order to gain experience using the rapid prototyping machine, we had to design and produce a memory stick casing on Creo. I wanted to make a casing to ensure the memory stick is harder to lose, so I made it into cufflinks as these are harder to forget and leave behind.

3 Models

I enjoyed this project, although having no opportunity to effect the design of the products. We had to take an object and make three models to look like it. One from car, one from foam and the final from anything so long as it looks identical to the real object. My final model was made of wood and then painted in metallic paint to make it look like metal. I then photocopied the scale onto tracing paper and stuck this on to the calliper.

900%

We had to take an item costing no more than £1 and redesign it to be worth £10, bringing in a 900% profit. We then had to make 10. I bought metal wire which i crafted into desk tidies to store pens, pencils and odd items found on the desk.
